HDB Flats Eligibility
How to qualify for HDB flats
Some quick facts on buying over a rental flat under this scheme:

First-Timer Applicants |
You and your essential family members listed in the application are considered first-timer applicants if you meet the following conditions: |

You and your essential family members listed in the application are considered second-timer applicants if you have owned/sold or are currently owning: |

Owners/Ex-Owners of Second Flat Bought Directly from HDB |
If you are an owner or ex-owner of a second flat bought directly from HDB, you are not eligible to apply or be listed in the application as an essential occupier. |

For Second-Timer Applicants |
Second-timer applicants may apply for an HDB flat provided that a minimal 5-year period (excluding any period of subletting of the whole flat) has lapsed from the date of taking possession of the original flat to the date of application for a new flat. |

For Essential Occupier of Existing HDB Flat |
Any person who is currently an essential occupier of an existing HDB flat bought directly from HDB, or a resale flat bought under the CPF Housing Grant Scheme, may apply to buy an HDB flat or be listed as an essential occupier only on the condition that he has stayed in the existing flat for at least 5 years from the date of taking possession of the existing flat to the date of application for a new flat. |
| i. | For Divorcees |
A divorcee whose matrimonial flat was bought directly from HDB, or from the open market using the CPF Housing Grant, may apply to buy an HDB flat or be listed as an occupier on the condition that at least 5 years have lapsed from the date the divorce was made absolute to the date of application for a new flat. However, the 5-year period does not apply if the matrimonial flat was bought from open market without any CPF Housing Grant, or the applicant is applying for a flat with his parents or new spouse. |
